Our privacy policy relates to the collection, use and disclosure of personal information.

How we collect and use information

When we collect personal information about you, we will explain, or it will otherwise be implicit, how we intend to use it. We will limit the information we collect to what we need for the purposes of operating the Valley Harvest Marathon and related events; and we will use it only for those purposes. We will obtain your consent if we wish to use your information for any other purpose in accordance with the law.

Why we collect personal information

When you register for a Blue Nose event, we ask for specific personal information – some of it is mandatory, other is optional. Here is a summary of the information we collect and why:

Name, gender and age:

To identify you during an event and place you in the correct age category for the race events, and to provide you with your personal race results following an event.

Contact information:

To keep you up to date with relevant information regarding our current and future events, and/or our partner or community events; to notify you following our events if you have qualified for a prize; to return lost items to you; to provide you with additional information about our events or to offer you information about other products, services or activities related to our mission.

Medical information:

To allow us to provide medical assistance if necessary during our events.

Emergency contact information:

To allow us to contact a family member, or person of your choice in case of an emergency during our events.

When we release your information

We do not share, sell or trade registrant, volunteer or database information to other companies or organizations. However, in order to stage an event, we may collect and/or release your information to parties outside the Society in certain circumstances, which include:

  • In order to provide you with your bib and your race time results
  • In order to provide you with official race photographs
  • For billing purposes that include Valley Harvest Marathon registration and donations
  • In order to accommodate requests such as registration transfers and deferrals (known as “No Sweat” requests)

In addition to contacting you leading up to the Valley Harvest Marathon events, we invite you to provide your consent to continue as a subscriber to receive information about Valley Harvest Marathon and its related events in the future. This will be asked separately on our registration form, in order to provide you with maximum choice.

As a subscriber, you may withdraw your consent at any time. We will provide an easy-to-use “unsubscribe” option with every communication and make every effort to remove your name from the list within 30 business days.
