Each year, the Valley Harvest Marathon partners with local charities that are making a difference in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia and beyond. With the help of our generous participants, Valley Harvest Marathon has the goal to raise $10,000 for the community. Help us reach our goal by adding a donation to your registration or donating on behalf of a participant. Our Charity Partners include:
Campaign for Kids
Campaign for Kids is a foundation dedicated to helping underprivileged children and youth in Kings County. They aim to lend a hand to families in need. Because they believe every child matters, all money raised stays at home—in Kings County to benefit our children locally.
Valley Regional Hospital Foundation
The Valley Regional Hospital Foundation is an independent charity founded in 1985. They provide donors with opportunities to invest in healthcare for themselves, their families, and future generations. Every donation is invested with integrity to support the highest quality healthcare in the community. Through the generosity of thousands of donors like you, the Foundation has provided over $25 million to achieve the charity’s mandate to enhance healthcare in the Annapolis Valley.
Acadia S.M.I.L.E. Program
The Acadia S.M.I.L.E. Program is an adapted physical activity program that pairs university students with individuals with varying disabilities from across the province to develop motor, social, and cognitive goals through physical activity and play.
Brigadoon Village
Brigadoon is the first facility of its kind in Atlantic Canada and is now the largest pediatric medical camp in Canada. Each camp offered at Brigadoon is designed so that children living with the same illness or life challenge attend a camp specifically tailored for those living with their needs.
Nestled in the heart of the Annapolis Valley, L’Arche Homefires is a beacon of hope, offering support and fostering community by sharing life with adults with developmental disabilities.
The Ecology Action Centre is an environmental charity based in Mi’kma’ki/Nova Scotia. They take leadership on critical environmental issues from biodiversity protection to climate change to environmental justice. Grounded in over five decades of deep environmental change work and fuelled by love and grief, EAC takes a 50-year perspective on what is needed to build towards a time of thriving and flourishing. They work to equip human and ecological communities for resilience and build a world where ecosystems and communities are restored not just sustained.
Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia
The Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia is the leading not-for-profit health charity serving Nova Scotians affected by dementia. Active in communities across the province, the Society offers help for today through programs and services and hope for tomorrow by funding research to find a cause and cure. Through programs and services, the Society provides education and support to people living with dementia, their care partners, healthcare professionals and the public.
In addition to its fundraising goal, the Valley Harvest Marathon offers volunteer groups honorariums that can be directed to a charity or organization of their choice in exchange for their time and efforts.
